What’s Good About Today

My first thought was not much. We are in lock down, social distancing (even family), tons of businesses are closed, our business has slowed to a crawl and everything has changed from a month ago. We were supposed to go on a ten day trip with fourteen friends to Mexico on March 15th. On March 12th one group canceled and by dinner March 13th all but 4 people had decided not to go. So instead of enjoying a beach holiday we were stuck at home. Then they closed the ski hills and gyms. All I could think was what’s going to happen next that I don’t want to hear about.

So armed with a less than hopeful attitude I decided to cut way back on reading, watching the news and listening to the opinions of the talking heads. Instead I just scan the headlines and put my focus on what’s good in my life.

  • There’s my family who I love.
  • Then there’s my friends some are helpful, some are strange, but most are positive so I’m spending extra time connecting with them.
  • I discovered I can exercise at home with a few modifications.
  • I enjoy walking our dogs with my wife and can’t remember ever having so many people say Hi. -Cooking together is fun when I remember who’s the boss and who’s the one to be bossed.
  • I enjoy my iPad for reading especially it’s library connection function.
  • Even watching TV and snacking has been fun.
  • Planning to do all those things I’ve been putting off brings hope.
  • Helping friends with their Real Estate needs.

There is no perfect under these conditions and we all have different challenges. Try to be patient with others and be the one that brings hope to those around you.
